The American Psyche After a year of change Americans are waking up to their folly. We are a nation of jump first ask questions later people. Dangle a shiny object in front of me, and I will follow. What ever happened to critical thinking? Do they even teach it in the school system today? We see a commercial that promises us our lives will be better if we only purchase this widget for $19.99. How many actually do extensive research before making a purchase? Well if you do, then this article is not for you. I'm writing to the feel good society throw away society at large. What ever happened to hard work and commitment? What ever happened to the saying "If he doesn't work, the he doesn't eat"? I know, I know, now you will make up some excuse about how there aren't any jobs. Well guess what, there are jobs. Maybe not the executive perk filled position you once enjoyed for doing nothing. You may even need to roll up your sleeves and get dirty, heck if Mike Rowe can do it, so can you. You claim you have a degree on your wall, that you paid x amount of dollars for at some great university. Paper is all that it is, and nothing more. Paper is also what our money supply is printed on, and soon will be worthless, but I will leave that for another time. Whether you like it or not we are coming full circle into a time where hard work and honesty will once again be in favor, but we are not there yet. We must first go through a cleansing of fire that will burn away much of your pride. As I walk around the 5th largest city in America which was hit hard by falling home prices I see help wanted signs on every street. With the extension of unemployment insurance, there is no rush work, which will only magnify the problem in the long run. No job is beneath a person, if it brings food on your table.
